|
The MLGBA Family Law Section is honored to welcome speaker Frederick
Hertz. His talk is entitled "Federally Single, Retroactively
Married: Emerging Issues for California Domestic Partners."
He will discuss issues of federal non-recognition of California
domestic partners, many of which are similar to those faced by
Massachusetts same-sex couples. This talk will provide a unique
opportunity to share stories and discuss creative solutions with an
attorney in the thick of things in California.
Frederick Hertz speaks and writes often on legal issues facing same-sex
couples, and he has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Today Show,
and NPR's Talk of the Nation. He is regularly quoted as an expert
on same-sex dissolutions, and he has been featured in The New York Times,
Harper's Magazine, The New York Observer, The Advocate and Out
Magazine, among other publications. He was recently described in
the Advocate as "one of the nation's leading experts on lesbian and gay
divorce." Frederick Hertz is also the co-author of the Nolo
Press' Legal Guide for Lesbian and Gay Couples. He graduated from
University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 1981, and has
practiced in Oakland since 1990.
The lunch will be generously hosted by Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster
